BEND, OR, UNITED STATES, April 1, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- FreeConnect Launches Nationwide Address-Matching Tool to Help Millions of Americans Find Affordable Internet After End of ACP

Authorized dealer compares plans from 25+ providers at a user's exact address — at no cost — as families navigate post-ACP internet options

FreeConnect (freeconnect.us), a BBB Accredited authorized internet dealer, has launched a free address-matching tool that helps low-income households across all 50 states find and sign up for affordable, high-speed internet plans — filling the gap left by the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which ended in June 2024.

An estimated 5 million American households lost internet access entirely when ACP funding expired, according to nonprofit Human-I-T. With no federal replacement on the horizon, millions more continue to pay $30 or more per month above what they need to.

"Most people have no idea that internet plans starting at $9.95 a month exist at their address," said the FreeConnect CEO Bud Torcom. "They just don't know where to look. That's exactly what we built this for."

How It Works

FreeConnect's tool compares plans from 25+ internet providers — including Spectrum, Xfinity, AT&T, Cox, Verizon, and Frontier — using a household's specific street address, not just a zip code. The tool shows:

Every provider and plan available at the user's exact location

Low-income programs such as Cox Connect2Compete ($9.95/mo), Xfinity Internet Essentials ($14.95/mo), and Spectrum Internet Assist ($25/mo)

Federal Lifeline discount eligibility ($9.25/mo off for qualifying households)

State-level broadband programs, including California's new LifeLine Home Broadband Pilot ($20-30/mo off)

FreeConnect's bilingual (English and Spanish) team then walks users through the entire enrollment process — from eligibility verification to provider application to installation — at no cost to the consumer.

Why Address-Level Accuracy Matters

Unlike zip-code-based comparison sites, FreeConnect matches plans to a household's specific address. Internet availability varies block by block in most American cities, and low-income programs have provider-specific service areas. A household in one Cleveland neighborhood may have access to three affordable plans, while a household two miles away may have only one.

"We've seen families overpaying by $40 a month because they didn't know a low-income plan was available at their address," the FreeConnect team said. "Our tool fixes that in about 10 minutes."

The Post-ACP Landscape

Since the ACP ended, the primary options for affordable internet include:

The Lifeline Program — a federal discount of $9.25/month (up to $34.25 on Tribal lands) for households enrolled in SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, or similar programs

ISP low-income plans — provider-specific programs ranging from $9.95 to $30/month, each with different eligibility requirements

State broadband programs — California, New York, Oregon, Colorado, and Vermont have all launched or expanded state-level internet affordability programs since the ACP ended

FreeConnect helps users navigate all three categories and combine multiple discounts where possible.
