Drone Strikes Ambulance in Southern Lebanon

(MENAFN) A medical staff member lost their life and four additional personnel sustained injuries after an Israeli drone strike struck an ambulance in southern Lebanon, according to officials on Saturday.

An official news agency stated that an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle executed an air raid on an ambulance located in the town of Kfar Tebnit, within Nabatieh province.

In an official release, Lebanon’s Health Ministry confirmed that one healthcare worker was killed while four others were wounded during the assault. The ministry emphasized that the incident represents a breach of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, labeling it a “war crime.”

The statement also highlighted that 42 healthcare personnel have died since Israeli strikes on Lebanon commenced on March 2.

Since that date, the Israeli military has continuously bombarded Lebanon with aerial attacks and initiated a ground campaign in the southern region, following a cross-border operation by Hezbollah on March 2.

This sustained Israeli military action in Lebanon unfolds amid escalating regional strain after the United States and Israel initiated a coordinated offensive against Iran on Feb. 28, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,340 individuals, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In response, Tehran has launched successive waves of drone and missile attacks aimed at Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military installations, causing casualties, damaging infrastructure, and disrupting global markets as well as aviation.
