Porsche Reports 10 Percent Decline in Global Sales

(MENAFN) Volkswagen Group's premium sports car division Porsche suffered a sharp 10% contraction in worldwide vehicle sales during 2025, driven primarily by a steep downturn in the Chinese market, the automaker disclosed Friday.

Annual deliveries tumbled to 279,449 vehicles from 310,718 units the prior year, marking the first time since 2020 that the German luxury marque slipped beneath the 300,000-unit threshold, according to the company's official statement.

The collapse in China proved particularly severe, with the automaker handing over just 41,938 vehicles throughout 2025—representing a devastating 26% year-over-year plunge.

Porsche attributed the Chinese freefall to turbulent conditions plaguing the premium automotive sector and intensifying rivalry from competitors, especially in the battery-electric vehicle space, the statement indicated.

European markets outside Germany witnessed a 13% annual decline, with deliveries settling at 66,340 units. Germany itself experienced a 16% drop to 29,968 vehicles, while North American sales held steady at 86,229 units compared to 2024 levels.

The Macan emerged as the brand's volume leader with 84,828 units moved globally. Despite the overall sales contraction, battery-powered models captured 22% of total Porsche deliveries.
